PS. Since I just started in the leather business this year
my work has lots of
room for improvement. If you see anything that should be
different & if you
want to, let me know. Feel free to tell me.
If not, please just enjoy this gift of appreciation. Whether
you actually
wear it or not or if it just hangs around an office, I am
glad to have done it.
(Ya know like getting it out of your creative craw!!) It's
just a small token to show how much your work means to us,
the crafters!
Be well,
PK

J.R Richardson
of J.R's Custom Leather Works says:
Dear Ron,
After speaking with you the
other day, I wanted to drop you a line concerning your
edgers and other fine tools. I have been in the
machine tool and cutting tool trade for over thirty (30)
years, and involved with leather work for twenty-six (26)
years. After having used virtually every edger and
french skiver on the market I can state with absolute
certainty that the tools you supply are by far the best I
have ever used. Through your choice of materials
(which I am very familiar with) and your manufacturing
methods you are producing cutting tools of the highest
order. Keep up the excellent work! Thanks again for
the polishing rouge.

Here is what
Bruce Johnson
says:
Ron, I know I told you last year at the Elko
show I would let you know how I was liking the drawdown my
wife "sold" me at Wickenburg. I was happy enough then, after
only having it a month. Time got away from me, and it has
been a year. Couldn't be happier.
My shop is pretty
tight on floor space. Previously I had a low wooden drawdown
and a taller one. I used whichever one was the closest to
the right height for the job. Your stand has replaced them
both, and takes up less space than either one by itself. I
sold the old-reliable-had-it-20-years low one right off the
bat. Figured I would keep the other around to stretch repair
leathers on or whatever. It is now in the shed under a pile
of saddle blankets. Your stirrup stretcher replaced that
stand's last duty in the shop and takes up no floor space.
It is fun having a stand that I can adjust the height, spin
the work to me, and stand or sit in one place and build.
After last
week, I am doubly glad I got the cantle binding sewing
attachment. I had a customer who was selling some saddles
with personalized trim pieces over that rawhide/laced rope
roll binding the production makers all seem to like. He
needed those pieces removed and replaced with some tooled to
match the saddles. There was one line of sewing to do in the
crease like a normal Cheyenne roll. There was another line
at the back edge of the trim angled forward to hold the back
edge down. Think two lines of sewing under a Cheyenne roll
on 4 of them - no fun. On the old wooden stands it would
have meant blocking up the end or a corner, and still not
having the light right, cramping up, and some awkward sewing
positions. Your cantle binding sewing attachment made it
easy to adjust the angle and height to be comfortable. I
could tip the saddle one way or the other and actually see
down into the corners. No bloody fingertips from feeling for
the tip of the awl blade. Better still was that I could
stand up straight after doing the last one. What is THAT
worth?? I thanked two people that early morning - you for
making the stand and my wife for making me buy it.
