Leatherworking Hand Tools
Crafted With Pride
For years, Ron Edmonds worked as a Saddlemaker and
Casemaker. Throughout his career, he purchased and used many
commercially available leatherworking tools. Unfortunately, he
found that virtually every tool had to he reworked before it was useful.
Time consuming heat treating and sharpening were necessary before the
tool would perform adequately.
From Ron's experience with mass produced tools came a determination to
design and create professional quality leatherworking hand tools.
Consequently, after the sale of this leather business in 1985, Ron
embarked upon the design and manufacture of a PREMIUM line of hand tools
intended for the meticulous leatherworker.
The first of Ron’s tool line was a series of twelve (12) sizes of
straight bottom
French Edgers. The cutting sizes range from 1/16” to
3/4” in width, in 1/16” increments. Each tool is numbered by size.
Tool blades are made from I54 CM tool steel, individually hand machined
and heat treated to a Rockwell hardness of 62c. This process creates a
sharp, durable edge which is ready to begin work as delivered.
Tool
handles are made from Cocobolo with no slippery
surface finish. The tool handle is mated to the
blade then braced with a seamless brass ferrule. The
handle is specially designed to allow for nearly
effortless work, because it lays naturally in the
craftsman’s hand.
Most sizes of tools are immediately available for
delivery. However, purchasers should contact Ron for availability of
sizes in stock.
Ron firmly believes his line of tools is the finest available. He plans
to expand the realm of tools offered and is eager to hear from
leatherworkers regarding their tool needs. New tools will be announced
to those who have asked to be included on Ron’s Mailing list.
All tools that bear the “Ron’s” logo are guaranteed for
life against defects of material or workmanship. If the original
purchaser of a tool is dissatisfied for any reason, the tool may be
returned for replacement or full refund. This guarantee is void if tool
is used for purposed other than the intended purpose.
